FAQ

Duloxetine is a prescription-only medicine in UK pharmacies and normally requires a prescription from an authorised prescriber. Our store policy allows you to place an order without providing a prescription, and the medicine can be sent by mail.

It is best to keep duloxetine delayed-release capsules in their original container, tightly closed and protected from moisture. If a pill organiser is needed, use a clean, dry one for a short period only and keep enough packaging information to identify the capsule, strength and expiry date.

Not necessarily. Products containing duloxetine may differ in capsule colour, size, markings, packaging and inactive ingredients, and the exact appearance of the supplied product is not guaranteed. Check the active ingredient, delayed-release capsule form and prescribed strength rather than relying on appearance alone.

During pregnancy, duloxetine requires an individual assessment by the prescriber: the potential benefit must be weighed against possible risks, including newborn withdrawal or adaptation symptoms after late-pregnancy exposure and a possible increased risk of postpartum bleeding. Do not stop it suddenly if pregnancy occurs. Duloxetine passes into breast milk and breastfeeding is not recommended during treatment.

Duloxetine is an SNRI antidepressant used in adults for conditions including depression, generalised anxiety disorder and diabetic peripheral neuropathic pain. It may also be used for fibromyalgia and certain chronic musculoskeletal pain conditions, depending on the clinical indication and local prescribing guidance.

Description

A well-known medication known as an antidepressant, noradrenaline, and serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SNRI) is called Cymbalta. It lessens diabetics' symptoms of peripheral neuropathy, fibromyalgia, melancholy, and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD).

Ask your doctor if you require more specific information regarding this medication's effects and mode of action.

Warning: Cymbalta makes you more photosensitive. Severe burning could result from this. If it's inevitable that you will be in the sun, then you should wear protective clothes and use sunscreen. Avoid consuming alcohol. There could be harmful adverse effects from this that could endanger your health. Dizziness or coordination trouble are possible side effects when using this medication.

Don't drive before you know how this solution affects you. Even if you feel better after starting medication earlier than your doctor has suggested, abruptly stopping the medication might make some conditions worse. Consult a physician before administering Cymbalta to kids.

If you currently have any of the following conditions, let your doctor know: glaucoma, allergies, suicidal thoughts, drug usage history in the past, blood clotting disorder or bleeding; nursing, pregnancy, or you intend to get pregnant; kidney or liver disease; heart attack; cardiac issues, stroke, epilepsy, or seizures, bipolar disorder (manic-depressive).

This medication is sold in capsule form. One or two pills are typically prescribed per day. You should use this medication on a regular basis. After taking the capsule, drink some water. Additionally, throughout the course of treatment, drink several glasses of water to protect your kidneys. It can be taken with or without food. You can take the medication with meals to reduce the possibility of stomach discomfort and to aid in the body's absorption of the medication. You have to take the pills whole. The capsule should not be chewed on, cracked, or crushed.
If you forget to take the dose, take it as soon as possible. If your next dose is almost due, do not take two doses. After taking just one dose, stick to your regular routine.

Large dosages can have detrimental effects on your health. Notify your doctor right away if you have taken too much of the medication.

Avoid taking the medication with any of the following: venlafaxine, St. John's Wort, Nefazodone, some phentermine, and other diet medicines such as fenfluramine, dexfenfluramine, and sibutramine, Procarbazine, Tryptophan, SSRIs such as fluoxetine, citalopram, fluvoxamine, sertraline, escitalopram, paroxetine, and Thioridazine, and MAOIs such as Eldepryl, Parnate, Carbex, Nardil, and Marplan.

Additionally, the following may interact with this remedy: cimetidine-containing medications for heart rhythm problems or blood pressure, some antibiotics (enoxacin, ciprofloxacin), and additional medications for psychosis, mental depression, anxiety, and manic episodes.

This list of exchanges may be incomplete. For further specific information, speak with your doctor. Also, talk to your doctor about using your medication in conjunction with food, drink, or tobacco.

I'm in Leicester and my order now says it has been dispatched. Does that mean my capsules will arrive tomorrow?

I live in Belfast. Can I check whether Cymbalta can be delivered to my address before I pay?

Answered by Support team

Yes. Enter your Belfast delivery address during checkout and use the destination options shown there to confirm whether delivery is available before completing payment.

Asked by Harriet Clarke, Nottingham, United Kingdom

Before ordering from Nottingham, can I use my postcode to see if this medicine can be delivered to me?

Answered by Support team

Yes. Please enter your postcode and address at checkout; the available delivery options shown there are the way to check eligibility for your destination.

Asked by James Patel, Reading, United Kingdom

My order has not arrived and seems to be delayed. What should I do?

Answered by Support team

Please contact our customer support team so we can check the parcel status with the delivery service. If needed, we can arrange a free replacement order or a refund.

Asked by Sophie Williams, Cardiff, United Kingdom

I have just started duloxetine and usually have wine with dinner at weekends. Is that safe?

Answered by Support team
Medical reviewed by Mildred Torres

Avoid excessive or regular alcohol use while taking duloxetine because it can increase the risk of liver problems. Alcohol can also worsen dizziness, drowsiness and impaired judgement, particularly when starting treatment.
